After three rehearsals tonight is the first performance of the Christmas Nutcracker so I am looking for experienced advice on anything that could be of use to me in the performance and backstage, anything from makeup to being confident onstage to hair and warming up. I’m not a dance teacher but I’ve taken a lot of Waltz classes and my neighbor has asked me to teach him the Waltz. Now, I’m a lady so I don’t know the man’s steps well. Can someone list the men’s steps of some basic waltz steps? I’ve already covered the balance step, box, turning box and underarm turn. Thanks!

HI I am looking for the music for the Jitterbug. I am asuming it is the most popular dance version, with no words. ok next week i have a dance and theres a kid who rewally really likes me and hes asked me out 2 times i said no andhe said hes gunna try and dance with me..but i dont really wanna but i dont wanna hurt his feelings…but i wanna dance with someone but almost all the guys have girls becuze i go to a diff school then them so im not in as much touch as much…help to get a guy i want?? and possibly a kiss?

When you attempted your first waltz jump did you fall?

I’m thinking of trying mine but i’m scared of falling on my jump.

Twice I have fallen, not from me but as I was just skating at the public session people have crashed into me and i have fallen really hard. To give you an idea of how I fell It was like jumping with your legs up in the air parralel and landing flat on your bum, which left me with a really, really sore spine for 3 days.

But once at practice I fell and it didn’t hurt at all, I landed on my thigh.

So if I fall on my waltz will it hurt heaps? Thanks for your advice.

I just recieved my ballet slippers in the mail. I ordered a 6B after learning that they run smaller than street shoes.
After trying them on I am not sure if they are fitting correctly. The sides of the shoes kind of point out like they are too wide but the toes of them are snug.
Also, how far back should the harder leather on the bottom go? All the way to the end of the heel? Mine stop about halfway through my heel. This could all be proper fitting, but I do not know.
I know it would be better to buy them in person but this is not an option. Thank you for your help.

To hip hop dancers, ballet dancers, any dancers, How did you become a dancer? While I am not planning to be a dancer, I am very interested to know how you become a professional. Like, what are the good dancing schools, how many years does training take, when did you start dancing, and so on. Also, what kind of career opportunities do different types of dancers have?

I am more interested in hop hop than classical or swing or those kinds of dances. I know that ballet education is more structured and it’s easier to give answers on it. But does anyone know about hip hop?
